Fildena contains sildenafil, a medicine used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED). Kidney problems can affect how safely your body handles sildenafil, particularly if kidney function is significantly reduced. Which kidney problems affect Fildena use? Chronic kidney disease (CKD): If your kidneys work less efficiently, sildenafil may stay in your body longer, potentially increasing side effects. Severe kidney impairment or kidney failure: You may need a lower starting dose and careful medical supervision. Dialysis: Sildenafil is not generally removed effectively by dialysis, so you should not assume that dialysis makes taking it safer. Acute kidney injury: If your kidney function has suddenly worsened because of dehydration, infection, or another illness, get medical advice before using Fildena. Kidney transplant: FILDENA may be possible, but your doctor should check your kidney function and all transplant medicines for interactions. Kidney stones alone do not automatically prevent Fildena use. The key concern is whether they have caused an obstruction or reduced kidney function. Does kidney disease mean you cannot take Fildena? Not necessarily. The prescribing information for sildenafil indicates that: Kidney function General guidance Mild impairment Usually no dose adjustment is needed Moderate impairment Usually no dose adjustment is needed Severe impairment (creatinine clearance below 30 mL/min) A lower starting dose, often 25 mg, should be considered by a doctor Kidney failure or dialysis Individual medical assessment is important These recommendations come from sildenafil prescribing information; Fildena's suitability also depends on its actual strength, product quality, other medicines, and your overall health. DailyMed +1 Important safety points Do not take Fildena with nitrate medicines, such as nitroglycerin, because your blood pressure can drop dangerously. Seek emergency care for chest pain, sudden vision or hearing loss, or an erection lasting more than four hours. If you have known kidney disease, check with your doctor before taking it rather than adjusting the dose yourself. Let me help you assess your situation Do you currently have a kidney problem, or are you asking before taking Fildena? If you have a diagnosed condition, tell me which one—for example, elevated creatinine, CKD, kidney stones, or dialysis—and the Fildena strength (25, 50, or 100 mg). I can explain the relevant precautions.
