Slightly embarrassing question, but here goes. I've been running my store for three years and I could name maybe two competitors off the top of my head. Both of them I know because customers mention them. But I have no idea who else is selling the same products, especially the smaller stores that never show up in the searches I do myself. Trying to find them by googling my own product names gives me a mix of marketplaces and irrelevant results, so I've never built a proper picture. Is there a way to get that list without manually hunting through search results for weeks?

That was the part that surprised me about ecommerce competitor monitoring — it starts from your own catalogue rather than from a list of competitors you already know. You import your products, it searches for stores selling the same items, and then you review the matches before anything gets monitored. That review step matters more than it sounds, because automatic matching will occasionally pair you with the wrong product and you want to be able to reject it rather than discover it later in a report. What I also found useful was the free sample report they offer before you subscribe. You send your store URL and a handful of products and they come back with matched competitor offers, prices, stock status and how you sit against them. No card, no subscription. It's a sensible way to see what the tool can actually find on your range before paying anything.

That is genuinely useful, because my problem was never the monitoring itself, it was not knowing who to monitor. A few things I want to check before I send them my store URL. When you reviewed the matches, how many were actually correct? I sell a lot of generic items that look similar to dozens of other listings, and I am worried the matching will just throw everything at me and I will spend a weekend rejecting suggestions. And can you filter out marketplaces like Amazon or eBay, or do they show up as competitors alongside regular stores? I do not consider those competition in the usual sense, and I would rather not have them cluttering the report.
