Fundamentally, RMM allows Managed Service Providers (MSPs) and IT managers to monitor system performance and resolve endpoint problems remotely, without requiring direct connection to the device. When reduced to their most basic components, all RMM tools and PSA software platforms revolve around two primary tasks: • Continuous Monitoring: Monitoring parameters such as CPU load, storage capacity, missing security updates, software inventories, and system logs by extracting telemetry from linked devices. • Remote Management: Delivering software updates, executing diagnostic scripts, rebooting devices, or initiating remote support sessions—all of these actions are carried out directly on those systems. Internal IT departments eventually adopted RMM software to manage their own internal workforces, even though it was initially created for MSPs serving numerous company clients.
