Fairplay brings the latest updates from the Asian Games 2026 men's cricket semi-final between India and Sri Lanka in Nisshin, Japan. The india vs sri lanka clash is scheduled at Korogi Sports Park, with both teams aiming to secure a place in the gold-medal match.
India vs Sri Lanka Match Details
The semi-final will be played at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin. India are led by Shreyas Iyer, while Sahan Arachchige is Sri Lanka's captain.
The toss is scheduled for 1:00 PM local time. The match will be broadcast in India on Sony Sports Network and SonyLIV, with coverage also available through broadcasters in Sri Lanka and Japan.
Both Teams Enter After Washouts
India reached the semi-finals without playing their quarterfinal against Afghanistan. Persistent rain resulted in the match being abandoned, with India progressing because of their higher ICC T20I ranking.
Sri Lanka experienced a similar situation in their quarterfinal against Nepal. That match was also abandoned without a toss, allowing Sri Lanka to advance on the basis of their seeding.
As a result, neither team has played a competitive knockout match before this important semi-final. The lack of recent match action could make the opening stages particularly important for both sides.
India Squad and Key Players
India are expected to rely on a strong T20 squad featuring several players from their recent international setup. Jasprit Bumrah is among the headline names, while Sanju Samson, Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan and Tilak Varma are also included in the probable lineup.
Shreyas Iyer will lead the side and will be looking to guide India into the Asian Games final.
Sri Lanka Probable XI
Sri Lanka are expected to field a squad led by Sahan Arachchige. Their probable XI includes Niroshan Dickwella, Lasith Croospulle, Nuwanidu Fernando, Ashen Bandara, Chamika Karunaratne, Tharindu Ratnayake, Wanuja Sahan, Vijayakanth Viyaskanth, Nuwan Thushara and Binura Fernando.
Arachchige has limited international T20 experience, making the semi-final an important occasion for the Sri Lankan captain.
India vs Sri Lanka Semi-final Outlook
The india vs sri lanka semi-final is set to determine the first finalist of the men's Asian Games cricket competition. India's strong squad will face a Sri Lankan side that has also advanced through the knockout stage without playing because of rain.
The result will determine which team moves into the gold-medal match, while the losing side will have another opportunity to compete for a medal.
Fairplay will continue to cover the latest Asian Games cricket scores, team updates, toss information and match highlights.
