The melt flow index formula (MFI) is calculated by measuring the amount of molten thermoplastic material that flows through a standard die under a specified temperature and load during a fixed period. The basic MFI formula is:

MFI = Weight of extruded material (g) × 600 / Time (s)

The result is expressed in **g/10 min**. During the test, a polymer sample is heated to the specified temperature inside the MFI tester. A standard load is then applied, forcing the melted material through the die. The extruded material is collected and weighed over a measured time interval.

Accurate temperature control, test load, sample preparation, and timing are important for reliable results. Presto Stantest Pvt Ltd offers melt flow index testers for consistent polymer testing and quality control applications.
