I've been reading about wallet-based authentication and how some Web3 apps are moving away from traditional email and password logins. I understand that it can make signing in easier, but I'm curious about the limitations. Does it eliminate the need for personal information, improve security, and make account management simpler, or are there still some catches?

The main benefit is that you can authenticate through cryptographic signatures instead of creating another password for every service. That can reduce password-related risks and make the login process more convenient. But it doesn't automatically make you anonymous or eliminate security concerns. Wallet protection, phishing, recovery options, and how an application handles your data still matter. I found this Technology.org article that explains the distinction between what wallet-based login removes and what it doesn't: https://www.technology.org/2026/08/31/wallet-based-login-three-things-it-removes-one-it-does-not/. It's a useful read if you're trying to understand the practical tradeoffs.
