Vilitra contains vardenafil, a phosphodiesterase type-5 (PDE5) inhibitor used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED). It is generally taken about 25–60 minutes before sexual activity, depending on the prescribed dose and individual response.
Vilitra can be taken with or without food. However, a heavy or high-fat meal may delay its absorption, which can make the medicine take longer to work. Taking it according to your healthcare professional’s instructions can help provide a more predictable effect.
Vardenafil does not cause an automatic erection. Sexual stimulation is necessary for it to work. Its effects may last for several hours, but the exact duration varies between individuals.
Do not take more than the prescribed dose or use VILITRA more frequently than recommended. Avoid combining it with other erectile-dysfunction medicines unless your doctor specifically advises you to do so.
Most importantly, do not take Vilitra with nitrate medicines, such as nitroglycerin or isosorbide. This combination can cause a potentially dangerous drop in blood pressure. Certain alpha-blockers and other medicines may also require caution.
If you have heart disease, low blood pressure, uncontrolled high blood pressure, or take multiple medications, discuss Vilitra with a healthcare professional before using it.
Seek urgent medical attention if you experience chest pain, fainting, sudden vision or hearing loss, or an erection lasting longer than four hours.
