Yesterday one of my teeth snapped right at the gum line, leaving just a jagged stump behind. It wasn't from an obvious injury, just cracked while I was eating. There's some mild soreness but no major bleeding right now. I'm not sure if this counts as a dental emergency or if it can wait a few days for a regular appointment. Has anyone dealt with something like this before? What should I do in the meantime, is it safe to eat normally, and what treatment options are typically involved, extraction vs. a post-and-crown or root canal? Any advice on finding urgent dental care would help too.

If this happened recently and you're in pain or bleeding won't stop, it's worth calling an emergency dentist or urgent care rather than waiting on forum replies — want me to help you find one nearby?
