I am currently comparing MCh vs DrNB and would like to hear from doctors who have already gone through either pathway.
Both options can lead to super-speciality training, but I am finding it difficult to decide which one would be better for long-term career growth. I am particularly interested in understanding the difference in training environment, clinical exposure, academic opportunities, and future job prospects.
For someone planning a career in a surgical super-speciality, does the choice between MCh and DrNB make a significant difference? I would also like to know whether the reputation of the individual institute or hospital matters more than the qualification itself.
Another concern is future teaching and academic opportunities. Are there any situations where choosing MCh would be more beneficial, or can DrNB provide similar career opportunities when completed from a good accredited centre?
I am not looking for a simple “MCh is better” or “DrNB is better” answer. I would prefer practical experiences from doctors who have considered or completed either course.
What factors should I compare before making the final decision?
