I’ve been reading about Helium and its approach to building a decentralized wireless network, and I find the idea interesting because it combines networking infrastructure with blockchain incentives. Unlike traditional cryptocurrency mining, Helium Hotspots have historically been connected to providing wireless coverage and participating in network activities such as Proof of Coverage.

For someone considering helium mining, I think location, network activity, equipment requirements, electricity costs, and current reward structures are all worth researching before spending money. Rewards shouldn’t be assumed to be guaranteed, since network conditions and the rules governing participation can affect results.

Has anyone here experimented with Helium Hotspots or other low-power decentralized network projects? I’d be interested in hearing about your actual setup, especially what you learned about coverage, placement, and operating costs.
