A cross-functional team is made up of people from diverse departments, fields, and backgrounds, but they share one common goal and cooperate to work toward it. Whereas marketing, sales engineering, design, etc. departments used to operate separately, they are now merged. Representatives from these departments meet and collaborate to handle a particular project or solve a common problem. Combining people with different skills and backgrounds through such an approach allows the teams to make better decisions in less time, to find out the problems sooner, and to arrive at a better solution for their product or company. Cross-functional teams are mostly beneficial for handling multifaceted projects involving several departments, for example, launching a new product or bringing in new employees. Managetrix can facilitate the reorganization of work between teams and positions and will simplify workforce and team management whenever different departments are required to work together.
