How Does Bioglandin Injection Affect Rem Sleep?

Bioglandin injection is generally associated with alprostadil (prostaglandin E1), a medicine used to produce erections in men with erectile dysfunction. When injected into the penis, it relaxes smooth muscle and increases local blood flow, producing an erection.
There is no strong evidence that intracavernosal alprostadil directly alters REM sleep or significantly changes normal sleep architecture. BIOGLANDIN INJECTION the medicine is administered locally and has a short duration of action, its primary effect is on penile blood flow rather than the brain's sleep-regulating systems. Studies have demonstrated systemic exposure after injection, but significant changes in vital signs were not observed in one pharmacokinetic study.
However, an erection that persists during the night could interrupt sleep or cause discomfort. Prolonged erections are a recognized complication of intracavernosal alprostadil. An erection lasting four hours or longer requires immediate medical attention, because untreated priapism can damage penile tissue.
If you notice repeated nighttime erections, difficulty sleeping, dizziness, or other unusual symptoms after Bioglandin, discuss them with your doctor. Do not change the injection dose yourself, since alprostadil dosing should be individually adjusted to minimize prolonged erections.
