Crushing Zhewitra 20 mg is not recommended. The tablet directions explicitly say to swallow it whole and not chew, crush, or break it.
If you crush it, the medicine may be absorbed differently and can lead to a less predictable effect, including stronger or faster side effects such as headache, flushing, dizziness, blurred vision, indigestion, or nasal congestion. It may also make it harder to control the dose, which is a problem because ZHEWITRA 20 MG is already a prescription-strength vardenafil tablet.
Crushing does not make it “safer” or “better.” In fact, taking more than prescribed can increase the risk of low blood pressure, chest discomfort, prolonged erection, and other serious reactions. The medicine is meant to work as needed for erectile dysfunction only when sexual stimulation is present.
If swallowing tablets is difficult, the better option is to ask a pharmacist or doctor about a suitable alternative form or a different medication that is easier to take. For safety, use Zhewitra exactly as prescribed and avoid combining it with nitrates or alcohol.
