Quarterback play in CFB 26 has changed dramatically over the past month. Early in the game cycle, raw throwing stats and throw power were enough to separate elite cards from average ones. Now, with nearly every top quarterback carrying 98 or 99 throw power alongside near-perfect accuracy ratings, the real difference-makers are mobility, release animations, and abilities CFB 26 Coins.

That shift has completely reshaped the quarterback tier list.

Players who once felt dominant are now falling behind because they lack elite movement or top-tier ability discounts. Meanwhile, scrambling quarterbacks with smooth releases and powerful improvisation abilities are becoming the backbone of the meta, especially in aggressive schemes like Utah offenses and rollout-heavy passing systems.

With so many new 97-99 overall quarterbacks entering Ultimate Team, it's time to break down the updated rankings, identify the best budget options, and determine which signal-callers truly belong in the S tier.

What Matters Most for Quarterbacks in CFB 26?

At this stage of the game, accuracy ratings barely matter among elite quarterbacks. Almost every high-end QB throws lasers across the field with minimal misses.

Instead, the most important traits are:

Speed and acceleration
Change of direction
Release animation
Ability discounts
Pocket movement and improvisation

A quarterback with a bad release can instantly feel unusable, even with perfect stats. Likewise, a mobile quarterback with Gold Magician or Off Platform can completely change the way an offense operates.

That's why many traditional pocket passers are slowly dropping in value while dynamic dual-threat options continue rising.

F Tier and D Tier: Cards Falling Behind

Some quarterbacks simply cannot keep up with the current meta.

Brad Johnson-F Tier

The 97 overall Brad Johnson card has respectable stats, including 94 speed, 96 throw power, and solid accuracies. However, his Over the Top 1 release is considered one of the worst throwing motions in the game.

Even though he gets Gold Dot and Gold Off Platform, the sluggish release ruins the experience. In high-level games where pressure arrives instantly, a slow throwing animation becomes a massive liability.

Ben Finley-D Tier

Ben Finley is slightly more usable thanks to a better High 3/4 release animation. He also carries 97 throw power with decent mobility.

Still, he lacks the elite movement and explosive ability setup needed to compete with top quarterbacks. He can function in budget lineups, but he's clearly behind the top-tier options.

C Tier: Solid but Limited

The C tier is filled with quarterbacks who can still perform well but lack the mobility or game-breaking tools to dominate consistently.

Boomer Esiason

Boomer Esiason offers 98 throw power and respectable speed for a left-handed quarterback. His abilities are decent, including Gold Dot and Gold Resistance, but he doesn't move nearly as well as the elite quarterbacks.

He's reliable, but not special.

Eli Manning

Eli Manning feels very similar to Boomer Esiason. He has excellent throw power and decent mobility for a Manning card, but he still falls into that "good but not elite" category.

If you prefer traditional passing offenses, Eli can absolutely work. However, he lacks the improvisation upside that defines the current meta.

Peyton Manning

The Game Changer Peyton Manning card surprisingly comes with 92 speed and even 95 change of direction, which is far more athletic than most expected.

Still, despite solid abilities and respectable movement, he doesn't compare to the chaos-creating dual-threat quarterbacks dominating competitive play right now.

Ty Simpson

Ty Simpson lands near the top of the C or low B tier range. His 99 throw power and solid release animation make him appealing, especially with Platinum Dot available.

He's efficient and polished, but doesn't feel quite explosive enough to crack the top group.

B Tier: Very Competitive Options

The B tier is stacked with quarterbacks that are absolutely capable of winning games, especially for players who fit their preferred playstyle.

Arch Manning

Arch Manning remains one of the smoothest throwers in CFB 26.

His Low 3/4 release is among the best in the game, and his combination of 96 speed, 97 acceleration, and 98 throw power makes him extremely dangerous.

The biggest issue holding him back is abilities. Compared to the true S-tier quarterbacks, Arch lacks the elite discounts and broken movement combinations that separate the very best cards.

Still, he remains an excellent option.

Byron Brown

Byron Brown stands out as arguably the best free or budget quarterback in the game.

At 97 speed with 99 throw power, he has all the physical tools needed to compete. However, his High 3/4 6 release animation is somewhat divisive. Some players love it, while others dislike how it feels under pressure.Even so, his value is undeniable for players not looking to spend heavily.

Tim Tebow

Tim Tebow is one of the more interesting quarterbacks in the current meta.

That said, the gap between many of these quarterbacks is extremely small. Players like Arch Manning, Fernando Mendoza, Juju Johnson, Terry Bussey, and De'Mond Williams are all capable of competing at the highest level depending on scheme and playstyle.

Ultimately, the "best" quarterback in CFB 26 comes down to how you play offense CUT 26 Coins.

If you prefer balanced passing with mobility, Jayden Daniels may be perfect. If you love chaos, improvisation, and option-heavy attacks, Denard Robinson and Peter Warrick are unmatched. And if you want a reliable budget option, Byron Brown remains one of the best values in the game.

One thing is certain: quarterback gameplay in CFB 26 has never been more dynamic, and the meta continues evolving with every new card release.
