Malegra contains sildenafil, which relaxes and widens blood vessels to improve blood flow for erectile dysfunction. Nitrate medicines (such as nitroglycerin, isosorbide dinitrate, or isosorbide mononitrate) are also used to widen blood vessels in people with chest pain or heart disease.
When both are taken together, their effects combine strongly, causing a sudden and dangerous drop in blood pressure. This can lead to serious complications such as fainting, stroke, heart attack, or even life-threatening shock.
Why the interaction is dangerous
Sildenafil lowers blood pressure slightly
Nitrates also lower blood pressure significantly
Together, they can cause severe hypotension (very low BP)
Symptoms of a dangerous drop in blood pressure may include:
Severe dizziness
Fainting
Blurred vision
Chest pain
Confusion or weakness
Safety rule
Doctors strictly advise: Never use MALEGRA if you are taking any form of nitrate medication — even occasionally.
This rule applies even if nitrates are taken within the last 24–48 hours (or longer depending on the drug), because sildenafil can still be active in the body.
What to do instead
If you have heart disease or use nitrates, tell your doctor before using any ED medicine. Safer alternatives or adjusted treatments can be considered based on your heart condition.
In short, combining Malegra and nitrates is considered dangerous and medically contraindicated.
