I’ve had to deal with inpatient flow issues, and the biggest game-changer for me was starting discharge planning early. If I know someone can go home by afternoon, I start prepping paperwork in the morning. That frees up beds much faster. I’ve also relied on real-time bed tracking systems. Everyone sees availability instantly, so we’re not waiting on phone calls between departments. Multidisciplinary rounds helped too; when doctors, nurses, and case managers are all on the same page daily, things move smoothly. Even small changes like using a discharge lounge have reduced bottlenecks in my experience.
