I'm honestly not even sure if this is the right place to post this, but I'm struggling and hoping someone gets it. Back in November I was working at a warehouse just outside Kingston when a pallet rack collapsed maybe 15 feet away from me — nobody got physically hurt, thank God, but the sound and the way everything came crashing down just completely wrecked something in my head. I went back to work after a few days off, but every time I hear a loud noise or see someone stacking pallets too high, I freeze up and my heart starts racing to the point where I've had to walk off the floor twice now. My supervisor is getting annoyed and said if I can't do my job maybe I should just go on disability, but I don't even know if PTSD counts for anything since I wasn't technically injured. I've been trying to find a work accident attorney Kingston NY just to ask some questions about whether I have any options here, because I'm terrified I'm going to lose my job if I keep having these episodes but I also can't just will myself to stop reacting this way. Has anyone successfully gotten workers' comp for something like this without a physical injury? I feel kind of stupid even asking because it's not like I broke a bone, but this is affecting my life every single day and I don't know where else to turn.
