Inflicting Chill on Yourself
At this point, you may be asking: if reverse chill only works when you are chilled, how do you trigger it without getting hit by a dangerous enemy or environmental effect? This is where the Shackles of the Wretched gloves enter the equation.
On paper, the Shackles of the Wretched seem counterintuitive. They make it so that after receiving a debuff such as chill, freeze, ignite, or shock, you cannot be afflicted by that debuff again for six seconds. They also reflect any curses you inflict back onto yourself. At first glance, this might seem like it prevents you from self-chilling, which would appear to be a hindrance to the reverse chill strategy.
However, with careful timing and skill interactions, these gloves can be manipulated to allow controlled self-chilling. The mechanics are subtle: the gloves’ cooldowns and reflections can be used strategically to create a window where your character can be briefly chilled, triggering the reverse chill effect, before the gloves’ protective cooldown prevents any further unwanted debuffs.
