Ayat al-Kursi is one of the most powerful and well-known verses of the Qur'an. It is verse 255 of Surah Al-Baqarah. Muslims around the world recite it daily for protection, blessings, and spiritual strength. The name Ayat al-Kursi means “The Verse of the Throne.” The word Kursi refers to Allah’s throne, symbolizing His supreme authority and power over the entire universe. ?? Meaning and Message The greatness of Allah is beautifully portrayed in Ayat ul Kursi Allah is Al-Hayy (The Ever-Living) and Al-Qayyum (The Sustainer of all existence). He never sleeps nor becomes tired. Everything in the heavens and the earth belongs to Him. No one can intercede without His permission. His knowledge covers everything — past, present, and future. The earth and the heavens are covered by His Throne. Protecting the universe does not tire Him. He is the highest and greatest. This verse emphasizes Allah’s absolute power, knowledge, and control over all creation. ?? Virtues of Ayat ul Kursi According to authentic Hadith: Reciting it after every obligatory prayer brings a person closer to Paradise. Reciting it before sleeping provides protection throughout the night. Because it sums up Tawheed—the oneness of Allah—it is regarded as the greatest verse in the Qur'an. ?? Spiritual Significance Ayat ul Kursi strengthens faith and reminds believers that Allah alone is in control. It brings peace to the heart and protection from harm. In summary, Ayat ul Kursi is a powerful declaration of Allah’s majesty, sovereignty, and mercy. It teaches believers to rely completely on Him and trust in His protection.
