Honestly, I’m so tired of seeing the same travel photos on Instagram. Every time someone says they’re going to Africa, they end up in the same crowded spots. Don't get me wrong, those places are famous for a reason, but who wants to see a lion surrounded by 20 white Land Rovers? It just kills the vibe for me. I’ve been doing some serious digging lately to find something more "real" and a bit more quiet.

I stumbled upon the idea of a selous game reserve safari and it sounds like exactly what a real adventure should be. It’s in the southern part of Tanzania, so it’s way less "touristy" than the usual Serengeti trips. What’s cool is that you can actually do walking safaris there. Imagine being on foot in that environment! It’s a bit scary but also sounds amazing. I also heard the boat trips are a must-do because you get to see the animals from the river, which is a totally different perspective.

My advice to anyone else looking is simple: stop following the crowds. Try to find those local agencies that focus on authentic pathways rather than just the big commercial hotels. It might take a bit more research, but from what I’ve seen, the experience is 10x better and you actually get some peace. Has anyone here been to the southern parks recently? Would love some tips on the best months to go!
