What the SASO IECEE Recognition Certificate Is

The SASO IECEE Recognition Certificate is a mandatory conformity certificate required by the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) for certain electrical and electronic products before they can be imported into Saudi Arabia. It essentially confirms that the product has been tested and certified under the IECEE CB Scheme (an internationally-recognized conformity assessment system) and then formally recognized by SASO for compliance with Saudi regulations.

In short:

It’s not the same as a typical export document — it’s a regulatory safety compliance requirement.

It’s tied to specific product categories (e.g., power banks, chargers, TVs, pumps, laptops, smart watches, lighting, etc.).

It must be issued and recognized before shipment via the Saudi online conformity system (SABER).

? Why Many Exporters Get It Wrong
1. Confusing It with Other Certificates

Many exporters think the SABER Product Certificate of Conformity (PCoC) or Shipment Certificate (SCoC) is all they need — but for electrical/electronic products, the SASO IECEE recognition must come first. Trying to register or ship without it will lead to rejection or customs holds.

?? Mistake: Uploading only a SABER CoC or missing the IECEE step entirely.

2. Wrong or Incomplete Documentation

Getting the certificate requires specific documents — including:

Valid IECEE CB test report and certificate from an accredited lab.

Product technical specifications.

Declarations of conformity and product manuals (often in Arabic/English).

Correct importer/manufacturer details.

?? Common error: Missing product photos, outdated CB reports, incorrect manuals, or failure to reflect Saudi-specific requirements.

3. Incorrect Product Classification

Exporters sometimes misclassify their product under the wrong category or standard, which results in the IECEE application being rejected or delayed. Since only certain products currently require SASO IECEE certification (and lists change over time), staying updated is crucial.
