Ogden turns each year during the holidays into a marvelous and delightful winter wonderland that features its renowned Christmas Village. The period from late November until the first day of January is the time of the year when the downtown area gets adorned with over60 holiday-themed cottages, all of which are lit up splendidly every night. The abovementioned lighting of the season is accompanied with a quite merry Santa Run — a 5K race in which all the participants are required to wear Santa suits, followed by the procession of the Holiday Electric Light along Washington Boulevard, a lighting ceremony along with, most of the time, fireworks to formally signify the start of the season. Visitors during the season are treated to free entry, nightly lights starting from 5 p.m., a miniature “Polar Express” train ride, holiday music, live entertainment and warm treats — they are all excellent ways to keep festive spirits up in Ogden for families, couples or friends.
