Malegra is a medication used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED), and it contains Sildenafil as its active ingredient—the same ingredient found in Viagra. Sildenafil works by improving blood flow to the penis, helping men with ED achieve and maintain an erection during sexual arousal. Here’s how Malegra (Sildenafil) works to improve blood flow and address erectile dysfunction: Mechanism of Action: How Malegra Improves Blood Flow PDE5 Inhibition: The primary way Sildenafil improves blood flow is by inhibiting an enzyme called PDE5 (phosphodiesterase type 5) in Malegra penile tissue. PDE5 normally breaks down cGMP (cyclic guanosine monophosphate), a molecule that helps relax smooth muscle cells in the blood vessels of the penis. When PDE5 is inhibited by Sildenafil, cGMP levels increase and smooth muscle relaxation occurs. Relaxation of Smooth Muscle: As cGMP builds up, it causes the smooth muscles in the blood vessels of the penis to relax. This relaxation allows the blood vessels to dilate (widen). This dilation increases blood flow into the erectile tissue of the penis (the corpora cavernosa), leading to an erection when the man is sexually aroused.
