Hi there, If you're flying with Lufthansa Airlines ORD Terminal and wondering what terminal to go to—head straight to Terminal 5. I recently flew Lufthansa from Frankfurt, and I thought I’d share my experience for those who may be first-time travelers with the airline or unfamiliar with O’Hare.
Terminal 5 is primarily used by United Airlines, but since Lufthansa is a Star Alliance partner, they operate from the same space. When I arrived, I was a little worried it would be crowded or confusing, but honestly, it was the opposite. The Lufthansa check-in counters were well-marked and separate from United’s main line, and the staff were incredibly helpful and efficient.
The TSA line was manageable, even during the late afternoon rush. Once past security, Terminal offers a decent variety of places to eat, grab coffee, or just relax while waiting. I found plenty of seating near the gates, many with charging ports—which is something I always appreciate when traveling.
Boarding was right on time, and the gate staff communicated clearly about when and how each group should line up. That kind of organization makes a big difference, especially when you're about to board a long international flight.
Overall, my experience with Lufthansa at Terminal 5 ORD was smooth and stress-free. Everything from check-in to boarding felt well-managed and comfortable. If you're flying out with Lufthansa, Terminal 1 is the place to go—and it makes for a great start to any journey.
