Okay, guys, I need some help. I have a dinner coming up – not super formal, but not “hoodie and sneakers” either. I want to look like I tried, but without being too fancy. I’ve been eyeing a couple of options – one loose-fitting jacket and one sheer shirt with this cool neckline. But I’m always having trouble putting it all together… Once I went out in silky wide pants and a cropped hoodie – I looked like a person who accidentally found herself at two different events at the same time. What should I choose?

Oh, this sounds familiar! I had a moment when I put on a formal jacket over a lace top, and realized already on the subway that I looked like I was going on a date after an interview. Recently, I was saved by an unusually cut skirt that I found here — https://www.beigebrown.com/collections/erika-cavallini. It seems to have a twist, but without going overboard. If you have doubts, look at the Erika Cavallini collection — there are items with character, but quite wearable. You can easily put together an image to suit your mood.

Sometimes it seems that fashion is a mix of everything: vintage, office, sports and a little theater. Yesterday I saw a girl in a corset, baggy trousers and men's boots — and it looked surprisingly organic. I like that it has become easier to be yourself and not chase strict boundaries. The main thing is that you yourself are comfortable, and the rest will follow.
