?Silodosin, marketed as Silditop 100, is an alpha-1A adrenergic receptor antagonist used to alleviate lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Silditop 100mg is particularly suitable for men experiencing moderate to severe voiding symptoms, including nocturia, weak stream, and incomplete bladder emptying. Clinical studies have demonstrated that silodosin significantly improves the International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS), quality of life (QoL) scores, and peak urinary flow rate (Qmax) compared to placebo and is as effective as tamsulosin in managing BPH symptoms .?
Silodosin is especially beneficial for patients with cardiovascular concerns, as it has a lower incidence of orthostatic hypotension compared to other alpha-blockers . Additionally, it can be safely used in men concurrently taking phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors, such as sildenafil, without significant risk of adverse interactions .?
However, silodosin is contraindicated in individuals with severe renal or hepatic impairment and those on strong CYP3A4 inhibitors. The most common side effect is retrograde or abnormal ejaculation, which, although prevalent, rarely leads to treatment discontinuation .?
