Factory farming is based on unimaginable cruelty to animals, viewing these animals as mere commodities rather than sentient beings who can feel pain, fear, and distress. Animals in these systems are kept in confined cages with very little room to move, much less to perform natural behaviors such as grazing, nesting, or socializing. The confined conditions inflict severe physical and psychological suffering, resulting in injuries and inducing prolonged states of chronic stress, with the development of abnormal behaviors such as aggression or self-harm.
