Can Poxet 90 mg be used for treating benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH)?

Poxet 90 mg, which contains the active ingredient dapoxetine, is primarily used for the treatment of premature ejaculation. It is not indicated for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).

Understanding BPH and Its Treatment
Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) is a condition characterized by an enlarged prostate gland, which can lead to urinary symptoms such as difficulty in starting urination, weak urine stream, and frequent urination, especially at night.

Common Treatments for BPH
Alpha-Blockers: Medications such as tamsulosin (Flomax) and alfuzosin (Uroxatral) relax the muscles in the prostate and bladder neck, making it easier to urinate.
5-Alpha-Reductase Inhibitors: Drugs like finasteride (Proscar) and dutasteride (Avodart) help shrink the prostate by preventing hormonal changes that cause prostate growth.
Combination Therapy: Sometimes, a combination of alpha-blockers and 5-alpha-reductase inhibitors is used for better effectiveness.
Phosphodiesterase-5 (PDE5) Inhibitors: Tadalafil (Cialis) is an example of a PDE5 inhibitor that is also approved for the treatment of BPH symptoms.
