Vilitra 40 mg, which contains vardenafil hydrochloride as the active ingredient, is primarily used for the treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED). There are several medical conditions that may contraindicate or require caution when using Vilitra 40 mg. These include:
Nitrates: Vardenafil, like other PDE5 inhibitors, can potentiate the hypotensive effects of nitrates (such as nitroglycerin) used to treat angina and certain heart conditions. Concomitant use of Vilitra 40 mg with nitrates or nitric oxide donors is contraindicated due to the risk of severe hypotension (dangerously low blood pressure).
Cardiovascular Conditions: Vilitra 40 mg should be used with caution or avoided in individuals with a history of cardiovascular disease, including recent heart attack, stroke, unstable angina, or severe heart failure. These conditions can increase the risk of cardiovascular complications when using vardenafil.
Hypotension: Vardenafil can lower blood pressure. It should be used cautiously in individuals with hypotension (low blood pressure) and avoided in those who have experienced symptomatic hypotension (dizziness, fainting) in the past.
Severe Liver or Kidney Disease: Vilitra 40mg should be used with caution in individuals with severe liver impairment (Child-Pugh Class C) or severe kidney impairment (end-stage renal disease requiring dialysis). Adjustments to the dosage may be necessary based on the severity of impairment.
Retinal Disorders: Use of Vilitra 40 mg should be avoided in individuals with retinal disorders such as retinitis pigmentosa, as PDE5 inhibitors including vardenafil have been associated with rare cases of visual disturbances.
Priapism: Vilitra 40 mg should not be used in individuals with a predisposition to priapism (prolonged and painful erection lasting more than four hours), such as those with sickle cell anemia, multiple myeloma, or leukemia.
Allergic Reactions: Individuals with known hypersensitivity or allergy to vardenafil or any component of Vilitra 40 mg should not use this medication.
Recent Major Surgery or Trauma: Vilitra 40 mg should be used with caution in individuals who have recently undergone major surgery or trauma, as these conditions may increase the risk of priapism.
Always consult with a healthcare provider before using Vilitra 40 mg or any medication for erectile dysfunction. They can assess your medical history, current health status, and medications you are taking to determine if Vilitra 40 mg is safe and appropriate for you, or if alternative treatments should be considered.
