Our bodies are like finely tuned machines, and core body temperature is a crucial aspect of this internal regulation. Humans are warm-blooded, meaning we maintain a relatively constant internal temperature (around 97°F to 101°F) regardless of the external environment. This internal furnace is fueled by our metabolism, the process by which we convert food into energy.
One of the byproducts of metabolic activity is heat. This is why you feel warmer after a workout – your muscles are working hard, burning calories, and generating heat as a consequence. This heat production is called the thermogenic effect.
The idea behind raising core body temperature for weight loss is that by increasing thermogenesis, you'll burn more calories throughout the day. Some believe this can be achieved through various methods: consuming hot beverages and spicy foods, wearing layers, or even spending time in saunas.
