Anyone of any age can get Breast Cancer, but the risk goes up as you get older. Most women with breast cancer are 50 years or older when they are first identified. But it's important to remember that younger women and even guys can get breast cancer, though it happens much less often. The risk goes up slowly for women as they age, but it goes up a lot after menopause. Some people may be more likely to get cancer because of their genes, their family background, or certain genetic defects like BRCA1 and BRCA2. Self-checks, professional exams, and scans should all be done on a regular basis to find breast cancer early and improve treatment results. Women should talk to their doctors about their personal risk factors and follow screening rules that are based on their age and health history.
