Swallowing quietly may seem impossible, especially when you have a mouth full of food or liquid. But it is actually possible with a few simple techniques. We’ve compiled a list of seven tips to help you swallow more quietly.
1. Take Smaller Bites and Sips: The larger the bite or sip, the more noise it will make when you swallow. Taking smaller bites and sips will make it easier to swallow quietly.
2. Relax Your Throat: When you tense up your throat, it can cause a loud gulp. Try to relax your throat muscles before you swallow. Doing this will help you swallow more quietly.
3. Breathe Through Your Nose: When you breathe through your nose, the air will help reduce the noise of your swallowing.
4. Swallow Softly: When you swallow, try to do it gently and smoothly. Avoid using your tongue to push the food or liquid down your throat. Doing this can create a loud noise.
5. Swallow Slowly: Swallowing too quickly can create noise. Take your time when swallowing and do it slowly.
