It relaxes the muscle cells of penile blood vessels and widens them. This leads to erections. The effect lasts for 4 to 6 hours and can be repeated as per the sexual desire. It is not recommended to take more than one pill a day until and unless the doctor advises it. Avoid alcohol and high-fat food items while consuming this medicine. It may decrease the efficacy of this drug. It is contraindicated in patients with heart disease, liver or kidney problems, bleeding in the stomach or intestines. It is also not safe for women who are breastfeeding or pregnant. It should not be taken with nitrate drugs for chest pain or heart condition such as nitroglycerin, isosorbide dinitrate or amyl nitrate.
