The dark web is the shadowy corner of the internet that requires special software and services to access. The Tor network, which provides multiple layers of encryption that protect files and connections, powers the dark web. It is home to websites specializing in illegal and unethical activities, as well as message boards and chat rooms that allow users to communicate about things they might not want to share with strangers on the surface web. It is also a breeding ground for illicit activities, such as arms trafficking and the selling of sexually exploitative content. The dark web is also a place where bad actors buy and sell stolen information. This includes PII (personally identifiable information), like full names, home addresses, phone numbers, and Social Security numbers; as well as financial data, such as passwords to cryptocurrency accounts and credit card details. dark web
