Malegra FXT is a combination medication used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) and premature ejaculation (PE) in men. It contains two active ingredients: Sildenafil citrate and Fluoxetine.
Sildenafil citrate is a well-known medication used to treat ED. It belongs to a class of drugs called phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitors. Malegra FXT tablet works by inhibiting the enzyme PDE5, which is responsible for the degradation of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP). By inhibiting PDE5, sildenafil helps to increase the levels of cGMP, which relaxes the smooth muscles of the penile blood vessels. This relaxation allows for increased blood flow to the penis, which is essential for achieving and maintaining an erection.
Fluoxetine is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) commonly used to treat depression, anxiety disorders, and other mental health conditions. It can also be effective in delaying ejaculation, helping to treat premature ejaculation. The exact mechanism of how fluoxetine works to delay ejaculation is not fully understood. However, it is believed that by increasing the levels of serotonin in the brain, fluoxetine can have a regulatory effect on the ejaculatory process.
