The travel south from Florida north to New York can include beaches, historic plantations, mountains and forests for hiking and camping, picturesque villages and major cities, and anything in between, depending on your interests. In the mapquest directions will fully show you the most reasonable stops. Just open it and you can go where you want. if one of them appeals to you, it can help you plan your own itinerary.
St. Augustine, Florida The oldest city in the US, according to this settlement on Florida's northern Atlantic coast. The beaches, Spanish-style colonial architecture, and the Castillo de San Marcos, a stronghold built in the 17th century, are reasons to visit St. Augustine.
The Bilmore Estate 2. Do you enjoy extravagant residences that are too much? The biggest privately owned home in the US, The Biltmore Estate, is situated just south of Asheville, North Carolina. It was completed in 1895. The most absurd aspect is that it was created as a vacation home!
3. SAVAGH, Georgia It's definitely worth at least a couple hours of your time if you're close to Savannah. You will enjoy Forsyth Park, with its trees covered in Spanish moss, and the historic area, with its antebellum architecture, in addition to discovering some Grade A southern cuisine here.

Vernon in George Washington You can stop at Mount Vernon if you choose to follow the route through Washington, D.C. George Washington's property is conveniently located about 30 minutes south of Washington, D.C., and can be reached from I-95 by following US Highway 1.
Things to see: Get a mansion tour if you wish to view inside George and Martha Washington's former residence. Then reserve some time to sample some restaurant favorites from Virginia.

THE PORT OF JERSEY True, New Jersey's beaches might not be as great as those further south, but you can still have fun and breathe some fresh ocean air before you get to your final destination. You should spend time in Asbury Park, Cape May, and Atlantic City.
What to see: If the beach has worn you out, visit Jenkinson's Aquarium at Point Pleasant Beach to witness a variety of marine life as well as animals like alligators and penguins.
JACKSONVILLE, FL 6. The largest city in Florida is located in the north and is worth visiting if you're traveling to New York. Jacksonville Beach is a popular attraction, but the city also includes other attractions such the Clara White Mission and Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens. Jacksonville also boasts the biggest network of urban parks in the nation, so you can take a break, stretch your legs, and take in the scenery while keeping an eye out for local wildlife.
What to see: Stop at Little Talbot Island State Park along the way to take in some fresh air. In this untamed park on a barrier island, you can climb, camp, or just wander on the immaculate beaches.
D.C.'s WASHINGTON 7. Why not stop if you are traveling up I-95 N directly and pass through the suburbs of Washington, D.C.? In the capital city of the United States, there are so many sites and activities to choose from that it will be difficult to decide where to go first. After scheduling a tour of the White House, you may stroll over to the National Mall to check out a few Smithsonian institutions and the area's numerous monuments.
What to see: Washington, D.C. is fantastic because most of the well-known sights are free. Visit Smithsonian institutions including the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History & Culture, stroll across Tidal Basin and the Lincoln Monument, and marvel at the National Gallery of Art.
GODDARD SPACE FLIGHT CENTER OF NASA The Goddard Space Flight Center, which is close to Washington, D.C., is a terrific spot to stop if you or your fellow travelers are curious about NASA or space travel in general. There are displays, a solarium, and explanations of how space telescopes function. The best thing about visiting is that Goddard is free to enter.
9. RALPH, N.C. The "Research Triangle" includes Chapel Hill and Durham, two nearby cities, as well as Raleigh, the state capital of North Carolina. There are a ton of enjoyable and educational things to do there. Visit Pullen Park, which features a lake you can paddle on and one of the oldest amusement parks in the world. On the educational front, visit the Pope House Museum to gain some insight into local Black history. Dr. Manessa Thomas Pope, one of the city's most well-known African Americans, resides there.
What to see: At the North Carolina Museum of Art, get out of the automobile and stretch your legs. There are artworks in the park outside, or you can go inside to see Egyptian antiquities, paintings, and other things.
10. THE NATIONAL FORESTS OF GEORGE WASHINGTON & JEFFERSON Bring your camping and hiking supplies if you wish to take a short diversion and spend some time in the George Washington and Jefferson National Forests in western Virginia, which extend into West Virginia and Kentucky. Hunting, fishing, biking, hiking, horseback riding, and camping are just a few of the many recreational activities available in this area, which is located along the Appalachian Mountains. But keep in mind that some activities require a permit, so you might want to make plans in advance.
