The plot of "Puss in Boots: The Last Wish" is as swift as its namesake cat.
Eleven years after his initial solo film, the intrinsically alluring contradiction of the swashbuckling kitty from the "Shrek" world has not changed. He is a bold adventurer, a ladies' man, feared and admired across the kingdom, yet he is also terribly adorable as he sips milk from a shot glass with his pinkish, sandpapery tongue. As always, Antonio Banderas explores the intellectual and hilarious sides of this hairy cartoon character with the correct tone.
It all began with an Italian folktale some 500 years ago. For many generations, tradition has depicted a cunning cat that speaks Spanish, always wears boots on his feet, and has a penchant towards chivalry. European. The big solstice, however, is not yet complete, and the cat confronts the genuine "Death God." The cat was completely tamed by the Big Bad Wolf, disguised as a savage wolf with the visage of hell's blood. The first time the cat encountered Bad Wolf, he sensed death and pressure. Since each terrified expression on Cat's face is represented in minute detail, the technical segment is the true highlight. All of the "sovereign's" extra-realistic experiences were accurately duplicated on the screen, including his puzzled eyes and his body's hair standing on end due to terror of the enemy's fatal aura.
