As stated by gun lubricant NOT a lubricant, WD-40 is a solvent. as it disappears so swiftly Gun lubricants made of WD-40 do not work well. It would very probably evaporate by the time you spray it on the chamber or slide, leaving your pistol completely dry by the time you load your rounds and begin firing.
