A dishwasher's humidity and moisture, as well as left-over food particles, makes it a cockroach magnet. Cleaning and airing out the appliance will help keep cockroaches at bay. Before putting away dishes that have cockroaches in them, rewash them. There are cockroaches in the dishwasher which are a big issue. It is important to remove all food residue inside a dishwasher before cleaning it. Under the rotating spray arm at the bottom is usually a filter that must be emptied. Clean the walls of the dishwasher as well as the rubber gaskets and the well in the bottom with a damp cloth or paper towel. Add a cup or two of white vinegar to the dishwasher's top rack and place a bowl or mug there. Put the dishwasher on without soap, then run it. You will smell vinegar strongly.
