"There's an emotional component to owning [the suitcase] and you become a performance art piece just by using the thing. It's like putting your items on display and rethinking the premise of a product."
In fact, Abloh seems so confident in the brand's momentum that he now barely includes its signature markers - ironic quotation marks, diagonal stripes and industrial-themed belts - Off White Sweaters in his runway shows. Instead, he uses the stage as a platform to expound on his brand values.
The most notable impact is the fact that the Off-White face mask topped the menswear category. Plus, the Off White T Shirt report also revealed that searches for fashion face masks in general surged by a whopping 496 per cent over the quarter.
This Da Vinci drop is Abloh's first move since his temporary leave from the fashion scene, and collaborating with a renowned Paris museum is most definitely a strong return. The collection is now available through the Off-White website, Off-White's Paris and Milan store locations, the Louvre's online store and Off White Crewnecks gift shop, online at Farfetch as well as in-store at Browns.
The capsule, comprised of jersey and fleece pieces, denim and accessories, is a reimagining of the brand's core themes and motifs. Denim pieces are stonewashed and bear white paint spots and splatters or blue and white laser-print check patterns, and the jersey and fleece styles feature a new version of Off-White's tape arrow graphic in ink that mimics the iridescence of duct tape.
